from the Desk of Doyle

The first RGS bottling happened in 1986 so that makes 2011 our 25th birthday. A lot has changed in the Australian wine industry over that time. We started only a short time after the last vine pull in the early 80s and then we experienced the crash through multi billion-dollar expansion involving overseas markets and crazy corporate takeovers and consolidations.
Now the industry is faced with challenges of oversupply and changing seasonal conditions. By any measure it has been a roller coaster ride. Who the hell in their right mind would take a ticket on this crazy conveyance.
The RGS red wines on offer this year are from a couple of previous vintages. They are barrel selected and then made specifically to RGS Wine Club specs by Bleasdale wine makers.
The RGS Wine Club was driven largely by a core group of 30 or so from around the country who wanted to get access to a quantity of good SA reds and whites at great prices.I reckon we’ve done that for the past 25 years.
The only way you can get access to the limited quantity of RGS wines is by
1. being introduced by a current RGS club member
2. being sent this newsletter and
3. ensuring you get your name on to the electronic distribution list by contacting Ann.

If possible, please use the credit card facility. It keeps the cost down. It won't be processed until after the wine is sent.
All the RGS Wines on offer this year have been offered to you before. If you liked them when you drank them the first time, you’ll no doubt enjoy them again ..and Ann has been cellaring them for us – so enjoy.
