January 2011 Newsletter

From Ian & Ann

Here is the NEWS!

1. Once again this year we are offering a range of previous vintages of RGS wines, largely as a result of the changing wine climate in Australia and the race to the bottom of the wine barrel by Woolies and Coles.

2. The RGS Wine Club offering is the 2007 Grower Shiraz, the 2007 Cross Cut Cabernet and the 2005 Adze Malbec. If you have a bottle of these in your cellar, whip the cork out and decide if you need to top up. If you don’t, order a case or two and enjoy the experience. All are in limited supplies however we are confident that most of you will get the wine you order.

3. The web address is http://www.rgswineclub.com

4. There is bloody lot of water in the Murray and the Coorong & Lower Lakes.

The RGS red wines are barrel selected and then made specifically to RGS Wine Club specs. The RGS Wine Club was driven largely by a core group of 30 or so from around the country 25 years ago who wanted to get access to a quantity of good SA reds at a great price. One of the foundation members, the erudite Mr. Colin Munro sadly snapped the hobbles on November 29th. A good man just left the room.

Ann’s Calliope Vintry administers the RGS Wine Club. Her email address is ascutchings@bigpond.com and contact phone / fax number at Langhorne Creek is 08 8537 3113.

Have a wander around the web site. There are tasting notes, the RGS Order Form, details of the RGS ‘On Location’ Photo Competition and a picture gallery of past RGS Wine Club functions.

The 2011 RGS Wine Club offering is a collection of aged and good Langhorne Creek wines, most of which you have already enjoyed

I trust you have a restive festive and a wonderful 2011.

Best regards
